We’ve had several discussions in our office about what it means to tell your story. And we vehemently believe your story begins & ends with your truth. That if you remain honest to who you are, you can’t go wrong.
I think about that often. What does it mean? Am I living my truth? And then it hits – and usually at very interesting times like when I’m watching a documentary on Netflix. I’m no Oprah, but I think that’s referred to as an “Aha” moment.
Telling your truth begins with passion. Passion in what you believe in. Passion for what you want in life. And then finding your North Star. Be honest with yourself. Be honest in what it’s going to take to achieve your goal and begin paving the trail for your journey. Know that your goal – your dream – is yours and you must have the guts and strength to see it through. Without that, you can’t succeed.
We’ve run into companies who want that “band-aid” or “quick fix”, hoping it will make everything okay. What they often fail to realize is if they don’t have a passion for what they do and aren’t honest about it, they can’t succeed. You see, passion & honesty work hand-in-hand. You can’t reach your North Star without them.
Think about all the successful people that inspire or motivate you. Are they honest to who they are? Do they love what they do? For me, the answer is yes. I’m inspired my strong, ambitious, successful women. They’ve given me the strength to learn more, demand more and achieve more. That it’s okay to be honest and not shy away. To reach for my North Star and not feel insecure about it.
So if you have something you believe in & something you want, have the balls to go after it. You’ve got nothing to lose. If you want something bad enough & you’re honest with yourself, you can’t fail. Sure, you might veer off course along the way, but you can always find your way back.
